Nutty Broccoli Saute, Super foods on my plate

Broccoli is considered one of the world's healthiest foods. The health benefits are so many that it would require a separate post. Sesame  seeds are an excellent source of copper and manganese. They also contain beneficial fibers called lignans having a cholesterol-lowering effect in humans and helps preventing high blood pressure. Two super foods in one dish and quite tasty too. We usually have it as a side dish with rice and dal. Sesame seeds add a nice taste and texture to this dish.

Ingredients for 2 medium Servings

Broccoli
3 cups florets cleaned
Red Chilli flakes
1 tea spoon
Sesame Seeds
1 table spoon
Salt
1/8 tsp or to taste
Turmeric
1/8 tsp
Olive Oil
1 tsp

Directions

  • Heat a pan with olive oil to medium high.
  • Add the broccoli florets and cook them covered for about 5 minutes in medium heat. The florets should become tender but not mushy.
  • Add the salt, turmeric powder, red chilli flakes and the sesame seeds.
  • Mix and cook covered for about 1 minute.
  • Serve as a side dish with rice and dal or eat it as a salad.

Please do try and let me know if your family meets the daily green quota without a fuss.
