Chilli curry with sesame powder

Sesame seeds are powerhouses of nutrition. It is the oldest known condiment to the mankind. Blogosphere is full of information on the beneficial effects of using this seed. Toast them lightly, cool and powder and use it to spike up the nutrition and the taste factor in any vegetable saute.

Here we have used the big chilli's which are not very spicy. Capsicum can also be used. There is no need for a recipe here. For 2 cups of diced chillies, we have used 2 tablespoons of roasted sesame seed powder. Saute the chilli's in a little oil for about 5 minutes covered on medium heat. Sprinkle the powder, mix, cover and cook for a minute. If watery curry is required, one can add up to two tablespoons of water.

One can start with a little bit and slowly increase if it meets the taste test of the family. The resulting curry is nutty and mildly spicy. It can be served with rice, millets or roti as a side dish. We had it with plain rice, dal and rasam.
