Marinated and Sauteed Tofu slices

Try this easy marinated tofu slices and I guarantee that you will look tofu differently. Very simple dish to make, the only caveat is the time it takes to marinate - around 15 minutes.

Recipe for the Tofu

 Firm tofu
1 Packet (I used the ka kim brand available in Bangalore)
 Curd/yogurt
1/2 cup (Fresh or slightly sour)
 Black salt
 1/4 tsp
 Turmeric
 Pinch
 Chilli Powder
 1/4 tsp Optional

Directions
  • Slice the firm tofu length wise about 1/2 cm thick.
  • Whisk together the yogurt, turmeric powder, black salt into a shallow bowl.
  • Place the tofu slices in the curd mixture. Cover and marinate for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Heat a pan, grease with 1/2 tsp oil, place the tofu slices once it is medium hot.
  • You can add some more oil at this point or leave as is if the pan is well seasoned.
  • Cook on medium heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • Right after it is  cooked on both sides and just before removing sprinkle the chilli powder.
  • They are very tasty when hot and become very chewy once cooled. I usually make it just before setting the table.

We have this as a side dish with dal and rice.
